Don’t Let Price Solely Dictate Your Plastic Surgery Decisions

Woman Researching copy

These days, discounts and coupons for cosmetic enhancement can be found at large in magazines, newspaper ads and, of course, all over the Internet. While low costs and/or markdowns for plastic surgery can certainly be tempting, it’s important to remember that the price of your procedure should never be the sole factor used to choose your plastic surgeon.

The cost of cosmetic surgery is often a direct representation of the physician’s skill and expertise, as well as the type and quality of care you can expect to receive. For something as potentially life-changing as plastic surgery, you want to have someone who can not only achieve excellent results based on your unique needs and goals, but someone who will also be there to provide personalized care and support before, during and well after your treatment.

When selecting a plastic surgeon, the first thing to do is conduct your own research to get a general idea of how much the procedure of interest costs in your particular area. Once you have an average price range, start searching online for surgeons who are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. By doing so, you can ensure your prospective doctor has met – and continues to uphold – optimal standards of safety, care and excellence in their practice

My advice is to select at least one board certified plastic surgeon who you would choose regardless of price, and schedule a consultation. After meeting with the doctor(s) in person, you can make your decision based on a number of different factors, including their credentials, before and after photos, patient testimonials, how well you connected with them and, yes, price. Many plastic surgeons offer various financing and payment plan options to help you cover the cost of treatment, so be mindful of that as well when making your decision.

On a final note, remember that plastic surgery is no different than other services you may consider – whether it’s a surgical procedure such as rhinoplasty or a non-surgical treatment like BOTOX® Cosmetic, you typically get what you pay for.
