XEOMIN® New Jersey
XEOMIN® is an injectable product used to reduce the appearance of glabellar frown lines (between the eyes). Used around the world since 2005, XEOMIN® was introduced into the US market in 2010. XEOMIN® is a botulinum toxin similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic. But a dose of XEOMIN® is different from other botulinum toxin products.
At our Toms River, New Jersey, practice, XEOMIN® is injected directly into muscles to decrease their activity. XEOMIN® blocks the release of a chemical messenger—acetylcholine—that conveys the signal from the nerve, stopping muscle fibers from contracting. Not all nerves are affected by botulinum toxin, so the muscles still contract, just less forcefully. As the muscles relax, wrinkles soften and disappear, allowing a more youthful look.
The number and placement for XEOMIN® injections varies from person to person, depending on the number of muscles to be treated and the extent of the treatment. Your doctor will decide how many sites to inject and the total dose per muscle based on your condition. How often you will need XEOMIN® injections also varies. According to clinical studies, it takes about 7 days before most people begin to see improvement. The effect can last up to 12 weeks, but may be significantly longer or shorter in individual patients.
